Since 1925 an iconic brand for schools, creativity, design and colouring. The Italian brand which for almost a century has excited generations of children today features an extremely broad range of products, renewed every year to satisfy every school and free time need, with: colored crayons, wax crayons, oil crayons, chalks, markers, tempera, glues.
In 2004, GIOTTO be-bè was born, a line of colors dedicated to children aged 2 to 5 years that revolutionizes the market for creativity tools aimed at early childhood. The DAS brand is an acronym of its inventor – Dario Sala – who filed the patent in 1962. In 1492, the year Christopher Columbus discovered America, master papermakers were already making handmade paper at a mill in Arches, in the department of Vosges.
Even today, Arches is the only manufacturer in the whole of France to use a cylinder mould for the entire process of producing art and printing paper. This traditional method, combined with the use of cotton (a natural raw material) makes it possible to produce the highest quality watermarked paper that is stable and has natural veins and rippled edges. True to its centuries-old heritage, Arches was awarded the title of “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (Living Heritage Company).

The Strathmore Paper Company’s story starts on Saint Patrick’s Day in 1892, when its founder, Horace Moses, opened the Mittineague paper mill in West Springfield, Massachusetts.
Later, Moses visited the Strathmore Valley in Scotland where the thistle was in full bloom. The beauty of the site impressed Horace Moses so much that he started using the name and the thistle as a symbol of the high quality of his products.
The Strathmore brand began appearing on fine art papers in 1899, initially with Charcoal and soon after with its Bristol quickly becoming known for the very high quality of its papers, used by many prominent artists around the world

The LUKAS brand’s history began with Dr Schönfeld and his entrepreneurial spirit, which inspired him to convert in 1862 his father’s art shop into Düsseldorf’s first industrial colour factory. Its products soon received praise from famous artists, including Vincent Van Gogh.

“T. & R. Rowney” was founded in London in 1783 by brothers Thomas and Richard Rowney, with the aim of selling perfumes and wig products. However, they soon also devoted themselves to the production of artists’ tools and painting products, quickly gaining significant recognition and becoming suppliers to the likes of Constable and Turner. In 1963, the company became a pioneer in the use of acrylics for artists, a key event for its business development. Its Cryla Artists’ Acrylic has been used by Pop Art artists such as Peter Blake and Bridget Riley.
The Daler Board Company, involved in sign writing, saw major success after World War II in Britain and developed a range of materials for artists, including the first synthetic watercolour brush.
In 1983, the Daler and Rowney stories merged, when the Daler Board Company bought the George Rowney Company.
